2N® Access Commander is a software tool for management of 2N® IP intercoms and autonomous readers (2N® Access Unit) from 2N, which also includes an attendance system module. It can be installed on a virtual server with Windows OS and the application is thus available via a web browser anytime, anywhere.
How to install Virtual system?
As mentioned above if you want to install 2N® Access Commander then the easiest way is to install it to some virtual machine. You can use VirtualBox as well as VM ware (two most popular virtual softwares). This FAQ will describe the procedure of installation to VirtualBox. So first of all you need to download VirtualBox which is open source software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 available for free on the link below:
Once you downloaded the file, then you can start with the installation. All necessary steps are mentioned in the picture below. Basically all you need to do is click several times to “Next” button.
How to install 2N® Access Commander?
After the installation of VirtualBox you can run this new program. New window will appear in front of you and you need to click on the “File” tab in the upper bar and select “Import Virtual Appliance”. Then follow the steps described in next pictures. Before you confirm the sixth step you can also specify hardware which will be used for this virtual machine. It is recommended to use at least 2 cores and 2048 MB of RAM memory. Before you click to the “Start” button in VirtualBox, you should double check that your computer has VT-X virtualisation technology activated in the BIOS and that installed 2N® Access Commander in your VirtualBox is also set correctly. Please follow the instructions shown in next pictures.
Linux version - How to setup 2N® Access Commander?
Now you can start 2N® Access Commander software in your virtual machine. Just click on the “Start” button as shown in the picture below. After that new window should appear in front of you – it will looks like new PC with Linux operating system running on your computer with request for login to the PC. You have to fill in the password “2n” for user “root”.
In a very last step you have to get the IP address of your virtual computer, respectively of complete 2N® Access Commander server. It is the IP address to which you will login from any web browser to configure your 2N access control system or to check attendance.
